FY25 EMERGENCY SHELTER FUNDING PRESS RELEASE – PLEASE READ:
The review committee of six members met on December 21, 2023 to review all applications. There were a total of 13 applications with the total request of shelter funding at almost seven (7) million dollars, ranging in individual requests from $100,000 to $900,000.
The WVCEH currently receives shelter grant funds in the amount of $1.6 million with a slight increase up to about $1.8 million for FY25. The demand for shelter funding far surpasses the amount of funding available.
The review committee utilized a tiered structure and ranked all applicant scores into 5 separate tiers. The following depicts each tier and the max amount each organization had the opportunity to receive based on the score and ranking of each organization:
- Tier 1 – $300,000
- Tier 2 – $200,000
- Tier 3 – $150,000
- Tier 4 – $100,000
- Tier 5 – $0
To promote equity, the review committee determined allocations regardless of ask. Each submission was reviewed and ranked based on who will have the opportunity to impact the homeless population most effectively according to the submission and in line with the West Virginia Shelter Policy Key Messages (see below).
